Ormond’s Fern & Fable Books to host CHARLOTTE’S WEB Reading
New local bookstore, Fern & Fable Books, will host a Charlotte’s Web reading on January 20th at 10:30am at 51 W Granada Blvd. The reading from the beloved children’s book is part of the excitement around The Peabody Auditorium Foundation’s (PAF) upcoming presentation of TheaterWorksUSA’s family musical, Charlotte’s Web (to be held at the News-Journal Center, at 2pm, on Sunday, January 28) – based on E.B. White’s loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. A small number of tickets to the musical will be raffled off at the January 20th reading and there will also be an activity for young readers!
Rayna Dunlop, Founder & Owner of Fern & Fable Books is, “so excited to help bring such a treasured story to life for young readers!” In fact, the “Fern” in the store’s name is in honor of the main (human) character in Charlotte’s Web!
PAF President Rene Bell Adams noted, “The opportunity to help provide a multi-faceted Charlotte’s Web experience to children and their families is incredible and to collaborate with a local book store like Fern & Fable Books is absolutely fantastic.”
The Peabody Auditorium Foundation (PAF) is presenting the musical as part of its Young Audience Series. Arts education is key to the mission of the PAF. In 2017, the organization launched its award-winning Youth + Art = Success! Program – an arts education outreach program that provides elementary, middle and high school students the opportunity to attend cultural programs and performances; and, as a component of their partnership with Volusia County Schools, also provides scholarships for high school seniors studying the performing arts. The Young Audience Series is a continuation of PAF’s arts education efforts, offering the finest in family theatre and cultural programming for the community.
